Director The tournament committee
and their dedicated group of volunteers put on a flawless 25th PVA US Open bass
tournament. After 25 years the chapter is retiring from running a bass trail
event. We thank the volunteers, donors and all the participants for helping
us bring bass tournaments to the veteran and civilian community.
The Open Division winners were:
1st Place - Avery Bell with Mike White Boat Partner
2nd Place - Tony Choe with Dennis Nolte Boat Partner
3rd Place - Paul Julian with Bob Beatty Boat Partner
4th Place - Ron Ryals with John Barbaro Boat Partner
5th Place - Paul Offill with Jay Ash Boat Partner
6th Place - George Hermansen with Lonnie Galassi Boat Partner
The Team Division
winners were:
1st Place - Lloyd Jones with James Williams
2nd Place - Stan Boerner with Roger Paton
3rd Place - Paul Julian with Bob Beatty
4th Place - Kurt Glass with Larry Maring
5th Place - David Henderson with Roy Fisher
6th Place - Lon Hilde with D J Hewitt
The Bank Division winner was:
1st Place - Ken Davault
Florida’s National Trail PVA Anglers of the Year:
5th Place - Ron Ryals
9th Place - Brian Terwilliger
And there were thirteen other anglers from Florida who fished the PVA trail.
We are proud of our Vice President, Ken Carter who tied with Kris Carver for first place on the Florida Disabled Anglers Tournament Trail. The winner in the Boat Captain’s Division was George Wilbanks. We had seventeen disabled anglers and twenty boat partners participate on this year’s trail!
The Florida Disabled Anglers will hold their annual meeting and awards banquet on January 15th at the chapter offices.
Mike Sprouse managed several hand-cycling clinics, and participated in a fundraising for the Fisher House in Gainesville. As a matter of fact, he lapped the field and with the chapter donation and matching funds. He helped to raise over $5,000.00.
The Chapter also sponsored a luncheon and Quad Rugby game with the Military Nine before their exhibition baseball game.
