We began the year with a small Pool Tournament here at the chapter. After we finished we had our own Poker Tournament and the few guys who were here had a great time. No big winners, but lots of laughs.
Next up, the Florida Disabled Anglers held their first Tournament of the New Year on January 17, 2009 at Lake Conway. This was a good way to start the year. Later, we followed up with the CFPVA Bass Tournament at Harris Lakes on April 17-19. As they usually do, Brian Terwilliger and his dedicated group of volunteers put on a nearly flawless event.

We had three air rifle
and bow shoots that proved to be a great success. Jim Trago, Biff Blizzard,
some of their family, along with Patrick McCallister and his family were among
those who worked to make the shoots special.
Ron Berry of Outdoors Without Limits came on board and offered us his gun ranges
to practice and to sight in our weapons.
Ken Weas set up a
hunting trip in December and was joined by Ken Carter, Scott Cool, and Howard
Jordan. They all bagged something, wild hogs or deer.
We are proud that our Vice President, Ken Carter, won the Florida Disabled Anglers
Tournament Trail, this makes him Angler of the Year for the second time. Is
it possible he talks to fish? John Barbaro, one of our tireless volunteers,
was the winner in the Boat Captain’s Division.
Our chapter had some outstanding representation in sports in 2009.
