SportsBuford Blizzard has decided to resign as Sports Director before his term expired. Michael Sprouse,(See picture to the left) a handcycling champion and chapter member has been gracious enough to volunteer for the post. Let’s all welcome Mike and wish him luck.
On Saturday, 1/10, I spent a pleasant day in Tampa. I was one of the guest instructors at a Handcycling clinic along with the Tampa PVA team. I also met Geoff Hopkins, the Associate Director of the National PVA Sports and Recreation Program. We hosted 8 veterans and 5 volunteers.
I am also working on getting us space for an Outreach booth at the Melbourne
Marathon in February. There will be several veteran athletes and many veterans
attending. They host a Quad Rugby tournament and there are supposed to be several
veterans there. I plan and am looking forward to meeting with the person who
is working to field an Orlando team.
Don’t forget
the Air Rifle and Bow Shoot at Gander Mountain in Ocala on April 17th.
It’s from 10 AM to 4 PM. We always have a great time and the younger set
learns gun safety at these outings. The hot dogs aren’t bad either!
