Hospital
Liaison
You may have noticed the new automatic doors at the Orlando SCI Clinic. These
were originally requested for the doors leading down the hallway to the Clinic,
Belton and I have already met with all the Orlando VA management to get the
automatic doors in the right place!
The new VHA Handbook 1011.06, Multiple Sclerosis (M/S) System of Care Procedures
is out and being applied. This is a new model of healthcare for veterans with
MS. PVA is working daily with the VA to understand how this new model will coincide
with their current SCI model. If you are a veteran with M/S and are currently
using any of the SCI Clinics and receive changes in your healthcare providers
or any changes or anomalies dealing with the SCI Program, we need to hear from
you immediately.
We
are sending a farewell to Dr. Kuno Zimmermann as he leaves us to take a new
position. He will be working in Germany for the Department of Defense in a new
TBI Healthcare Program, Even though he was with us for only a short time we
want to thank him for his service to our veterans as well as his own personal
service as a Colonel in the United States Army.
In
honor of PVA Awareness Week, we will have booths at the Viera VA OPC on April
13th and the Pensacola VA OPC on April 14th. If you’re in the area, stop
by and visit.
I’m
looking for any members and/or other veterans who live in and use the Jacksonville
VA Out Patient Clinic. We need to be more involved with the construction of
the new OPC there. I need some local eyes and ears to monitor the building and
to keep our National Congressional Representatives updated.
