Know your Candidates

Steve Kirk is our incumbent President, and he wishes to remain in that office. Steve has initiated some major programs in the past year and we’re grateful to have him. Quiet and unassuming, he still manages to charm people and get more work done than is imaginable. Believe it or not, even though he’s a quad, he is also our Webmaster and manages to put the newsletter on our Website perfectly, month after month. He’s a shining example of the great work quads can accomplish. Steve lives in Deltona with his significant other and super caregiver, Pat.

Buford “Biff” Blizzard was a Board member until last December, but he resigned and is now running for President. He was also our previous Sports director. Biff says the only way to make the changes he feels are needed in our organization is through leadership. Biff received a 500 hour volunteer pin this year from the National offices and by way of that, folks tell us he’s an entertaining and persuasive hot dog vendor. He and his wife Nancy live in Orlando.

Ken Carter is running for Vice President, he’s already survived the job for the past two years. Prior to that he served on the Board of Directors for four years and he was President of the Mid America Chapter before coming to us. Ken has been a PVA member for twenty years. When they say experience counts, they’re talking about Ken. He and his wife Dorothy live in Stone Island. If you fish, I’m sure you recognize his name, so I don’t have to tell you about his amazing expertise with bass.

To introduce Jerry Dugan and Connie Lukas is repetitious. Everyone knows them. Our Treasurer and Secretary have been with us for years and they do the most amazing jobs in those positions. The chapter runs perfectly because of their expertise. They are our stars, the support of our organization, and the very best at keeping our chapter ship on course. We are proud to claim them as our own and we hope they will remain with us for years to come.

Richard Cerezo is hoping to renew his stint on the Board of Directors. Richard has a keen mind and a talent for asking the right questions during meetings. He always seems to go straight to the heart of a subject and be able to solve the issue with a few well-thought-out questions. Richard is an great asset to our Board of Directors, he and his wife Elizabeth live in Orlando.

Unfortunately, we do not have a second candidate for the Board of Directors right now. Hopefully, some civic (read chapter) minded person will come forward before the ballots go out. The job entails coming to a Board Meeting once a month on the Second Wednesday. Meetings usually last from 11:30 AM until about 3 or 4 PM. Interesting topics concerning the chapter are discussed and voted on and we serve lunch. You also get your name in the front of the newsletter. We’re always looking for a few good men.. or women. Doesn’t sound difficult, does it?
