I am currently working
with Bass Pro Shop in Orlando to see if it’s feasible to hold an Air Rifle
and Archery Shoot there in August. Our last was in Ocala on April 17th, so I
think it’s time for another.
I am working on a Handcycle Clinic/ Ride on July 12th in Winter Garden. There
will also be a cycling event in September in Pensacola. It would be great if
there was someone in the chapter to go along, so if you have a bike or a handcycle,
or if you have questions or want to know more, please call the chapter, leave
your name and phone number and I’ll get back to you.
There is a sporting group in New York named Achilles, and they are very involved
in handcycling. I am hoping to have them donate two handcycles to the chapter.
This will allow me to show veterans how to operate a handcycle and find out
if they’re capable and if they’re interested. The cycles will be
kept at the chapter most of the time and loaned out for practice. I’m
thinking ‘team sport’ and ‘Central Florida PVA Handcycle Racing
Team’ but it’s too soon to ask the Board for matching jerseys. I’m
hoping that will come later.
Our Vice President,
Ken Carter, has done it again. He went to the Lone Star PVA Tournament on Texas
and came in Fourth. My opinion: Ken should write a book about fishing. Anyone
who understands the art of bass fishing to that extent should share his expertise
with someone like me who only knows that the hook goes in the water and the
pole stays in your hand.
But, even though I’m
not a fisherman, I can tell you that I’m working with Critter Fleet to
get some more tickets. So, if you’re interested, call the office and get
your name put on the list. Remember that you need a caregiver with you and we
always send two tickets for that reason. When the tickets come in, they’ll
be mailed out to you, first to sign up, first to get tickets.
