Community Relations

I will be attending the Seminole County Legislative Delegation Meeting. It is on Friday, September 16th from 9:00 AM to Noon in the County Commission Chambers of the Seminole County Services Building, 1101 East First Street in Sanford. I will present five Power Point papers. They all relate to placing phone numbers and call buttons on gas pumps to be better able to service those with disabilities. I would like to have some wheelchair vets there to help me emphasize the need.

Tampa presented this program at their County Legislative meeting and got the ball rolling there. I will also be discussing disabled parking violations. The City of Jacksonville implemented a volunteer program which allows trained volunteers to write parking tickets. We feel these are two very important subjects that, if correctly handled by local government, will aid the disabled of our community, both vets and non-vets.

The United Spinal Association Annual Independence Expo will be held at the Buena Vista Palace Resort on Friday & Saturday 9/23 & 24.

We will be manning a booth on both days. We are still looking for volunteers for both days. This is a perfect way to get to know your CFPVA members and also help your chapter grow. We’ll be passing out applications and offering helpful information to vets on where they can find answers no matter how big or small their questions may be.

If you’d like to work for an hour or two (or more), call the office and volunteer. It’s the right thing to do.
