Our
President
As your re-elected President, I want to use my space this month to express my
gratitude for the confidence that you, our chapter members, have shown in my
ability to guide the chapter for another year.
Allow me once again to thank you, our members, for voting. We had the best response
ever. Your vote is your best chance to let us know what you think of our stewardship.
If you don’t tell us what you think and what you need from us, we have
no way of aiding you. So, please, if you have an idea, a concern, a thought
or a brainstorm, please feel free to contact me at the office, by phone or e-mail.
My direct Email address is: prescfpva@bellsouth.net
Most important of all, I would like to personally thank the people who make
me look good and make my job easier. Ken Carter, our Vice President, who backs
me up in more ways than one. Jerry Dugan, Chapter Treasurer, who ably keeps
our financial boat afloat. Connie Lukas, Chapter Secretary, who takes precise
minutes at our meetings, not an easy task. Connie is also is a great advisor.
I’m looking forward to Mike Combs getting well and returning to our office.
Mike is level-headed and a good friend, he is sorely missed.
And thanks also to
Ken Weas, our National Director, and Hospital Liaison, (who was just voted to
National PVA Vice President). He advises me weekly on good plans of action.
The need for that happens more often than I like to admit. And to Mike Sprouse,
a man in a multitude of hats, Government Relations, Community Relations, and
Sports Director. Mike is working hard for our benefit. Also to Brian Terwilliger,
who runs our Bass Tournament perfectly with his one hundred great volunteers.
The Tournament is one of the few programs that shows a profit to our chapter.
Mary Ann, our Executive Director and Office Administrator, who edits my letters
and articles, runs the office, and fields the phone calls. And, of course, to
our Board Members, the people who actually vote on our direction and the efforts
we should implement to achieve it.
I’ve tried my
best to institute programs that the majority of our members, should they choose
to, can take part in. Right now, we are looking for bowlers. Last month we did
a “Texas Hold ‘Em” night with wings and chili. We had a small,
but very engaging group. We were having such a good time eating and socializing
that we were late starting the card game.
I hope you saw the
page announcing the Magic Tickets. We really want you, the members, to take
advantage of this. The last thing we want is for those tickets sit idle.
The baseball game
was enjoyed by a few. I honestly wish we could get more members to join us.
Unfortunately, do to a UTI, I was unable to attend. However, one member returned
several times for more of the games.
