Assessment Donation
In July I did an assessment of two hotels and the Civic Center in Atlanta for
the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. They wrote, thanking
us for our detailed report, they also reimbursed us for my travel expense and
donated funds to the chapter for my time.
They have asked if we could be available in the future and invited me to attend their formal banquet in November at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando. They have donated funds to the chapter each time I have done an assessment for them.
Deland City Council
Meeting
On Thursday September 8th I met with Robert F. Apgar, the Mayor of DeLand, to
discuss the Handcycle race we will be sponsoring. Some of the roads shown to
me as being a part of the course were in terrible condition with dangerous yawning
potholes. After my pointing this out to the mayor, he graciously had them fixed
in a few days. I was impressed by the promptness of the repairs.
On Monday September 12th I met with the DeLand City Council to discuss the logistics
of the race. I took advantage of the meeting to mention a proposal to place
phone numbers on gas pumps at all major gas stations. The City Council requested
that the Mayor propose an amendment for a vote on this at the next City Council
Meeting. I also presented a proposal for the Parking Posse. They were not very
receptive of that idea. However, I am not backing down completely; I will be
presenting the same proposal to Seminole County.
