Our President

I am using this space to catch up on a number of items. First, I would like to thank the membership for voting the officers and board members back into their respective positions. We genuinely appreciate your support and confidence in us. We will do our best to run the Chapter in the best interests of you, our members. As always any questions, suggestions, or concerns, you may have, please let us know. We’re here for you.

Now, on to other items of interest:

I attended the VCEP meeting in Deltona and a member explained that if you take your DD-214 when renewing your driver’s license, they will put a “V” on your license as proof that you served. This can be handy when asking for discounts in places such as Lowe’s. Also, it should help on Veteran’s Day, when a number of restaurants offer free diners.

For the month of December we have rescheduled our chair repair man for the middle of the month. That’s usually when my chair quits – just before a holiday when parts are hard to come by and no one is in their office. So, I thought it would be a good time to have him here. The board settled on 12/21. But, stay tuned it may change.

The 2nd annual CFPVA Car Show will be on October 8th at Hurley Dodge in DeLand. Paul Stoute, the kind car enthusiast who organizes this event, is very enthusiastic about the venue and says we have a good number of sponsors in addition to Hurley Dodge, who is being very accommodating. Rod Strohm is helping and Jerry Daniels should be on board as the Master of Ceremonies. They haven’t settled on the times yet, we will keep you advised.

For the record, Ken Carter has been affirmed as our National Director for the next three years. As a consequence he will be doing the reports after this month, freeing up some time for me. Please give him all the support you can, because any new job can be daunting at first.

We have been advised that David Ray, Belton Smith and several other National Service Officers from the various Florida chapter areas will be attending our Board Meetings through the next year. This way we will get to know all the NSOs and be able to better communicate with them. Again, the recurring theme appears, we hope this will help in better communications for all of us and we can better serve our membership.
